Do u guys use oil flush when changing oil?

I heard a few people say that is good for cleaning out varnish and gunk.

**** that.

When I change the oil, I'll let it drain overnight, fill with new oil (don't change the oil filter yet), run the car for a few minutes, and change the oil filter and fill back up with oil.

buy the cheapest 10w30 oil and cheapest filter you can find, change the oil with it, run the car for a few miles to circulate the whole system and then change it again with top of the line oil and filter

^^^^^

what he said. I've started doing that (change oil on saturday, drive where I need to go, and change oil and filter on sunday). I do this every 1500 and the car seems to like it a lot (the engine is starting to get progressively smoother, not sure how though).

Oil flush = waste of money. All name brand oils available today have detergent additives to keep deposits from forming (varnish forms from fuel drying out, not oil). In fact, ester-based synthetics actually do it without any additives due to ester's natural cleansing properties.

You people are crazy.

85k on my engine, many at WOT/high rpm at the track

synthetic every 3k miles

absolutely zero oil-related problems with motor

If you change your oil every 5000kms or so there should be no need

really? you've run synth the entire time (and yes, I know I'm a bit over the top with this car, but hell, better to spend the 1/2 hour changing the oil and filter than bein stuck on the side of the highway.................. on fire..........)

I'm not making the connection between the frequency and methods of changing oil... and engine fires.

just being extreme, but I will admit, with the amount of problem I have run into with the 7 in only the last year of owning it, I'm a bit of an extremist when it comes to maintenance (when money allows, that is, if not, the car is just parked and left till I can have it in running condition again).

You would save more money if you weren't doing double oil-changes every 1500 miles....it's totally unnecessary and is a waste of your time, money, and our depleting oil reserves.

In 4-1/2 years on this forum, I have yet to see A SINGLE CASE of anyone having to rebuild a motor due to oil-related damage -- excepting cases where they didn't HAVE any oil....

Like I said above, my motor had 85k on it, with many track events (most in hot weather). Zero oil-related problems with the motor with 3k mile oil changes, running Mobil 1. Some of the 85k miles were on dino juice, but the majority were with synthetic.

I've got a cumulated 400k+ miles running Redline 20w50 in both 86SE and my FD.

ZERO problems.

Hence I laugh at the ignorance of people that pigeonhole all synthetics as the culprit to engine failure.
