Do I need a water temp gauge?

At the moment I check water temps through my Power FC commander. Is that the same thing?

Thanks,

Newb

Sure, it works great. The only problem is it's harder to quickly look at and see temp swings. I find it's much easier to watch my Defi's than to try to read the PFC (especially when it's bright out and the display's hard to read).

I guess you could use the PFC for exact numbers and linearize the stock gauge to give you a qualitative view of temps.

Your Power FC is just fine. Like rynberg said though, just keep an eye on it. (it might be a bit hard to do if your cornering hard or doing a high speed run though)

i still suggest getting a temp guage, because if you mount your power fc commander on your dash its almost always hard to read in the day light. its more conveniant for a the guage.

Stock gage can be adequate. I control temps to stay in 180-215 range, depending on use. So i added a parallel resistor to the oem gage sensor, so needle starts to rise at 220F, vs about 240F as is. It now rises to 'normal' quicker, so I just wait a bit more before considering it warmed up.

rx7 is known for heating problems, I would buy a gauge just to make sure your running okay. Better safe than sorry! I have a fuel, a/f, and water gauge.
