do i need a rebuild? im confused now..

hey guys....ok, i put a thread up on advice to change my water hoses and 1 guy told me i shouldn' t mess with it cuz i should save the money for a rebuild cuz my seals will most likely break before my water seals go....and some people say i should get the water hoses replaced and a rebuild is not necessary..what do i do? I have 87k on odo with a fluidyne rad, Aftermarket AST, silicon hose job, and a TT... I took the car to tri point before I bought it ...they said the car drove expectionally well and the compression came out real good and the vacumm read 17 in-hg at 850rpm...now some people are telling me to do a rebuild and not even worry about the water hoses and some people say change the hoses cuz the last thing i want is a broken water seal...what should i do? I don't have the money for a rebuild so if that is necessary soon, ill save my money and get it done before it breaks on the road....i have all maintenance recrods and the car was well taken care of and boosts 10-8-10 and runs great. I change my oil, oil filter every 2k and the fuel filter every other oil change...please give me some opinions..anything helps.

There are alot of dooms day mechanics on this board! Try the KISS method first KISS= Keep It Simple Stupid I in no way mean your stupid!!! Hahaha!! It just means appraoch the problem with open minds and try the easy things first before whipping out the card for a rebuild. Honestly if tri-point checked it out,( I never have dealt with them but know of them) then i would stand secure that your engine may be in good shape. Bad thing about our engines is that they can go at any time without warning. HOWEVER: If you replace the things that CAN go wrong, CAUSING you to need a rebuild, (Hoses, broken radiators, whatever it may be,) You will Prbably save yourself thousands of $$$ in repairs and rebuilds. SADLY: A rebuild will defenitly need to be added into your plans. It's just a way of life with the rotary. BUT if you adress the easy issues, and keep on top off them , you won't have to spend wrecklessly like some poeple are telling you to do." Replace them both" I wish we all had that kind of $$. Who's your daddy? Hahaha! j/k! Keep your head up, keep on top of your cars fluid levels and talk to some people that have experience in prevention rather than replacement. Good luck. ANY ?'s PM me I just did all the coolant lines and a rebuild on a customers car if you need pics or info.

dude just get a water temp gauge
hoses are hoses just like every other car
if it breaks then you will see the temps rising and you can shut off the motor before it hurts anything

I dont believe that you change the fuel filter every 2 oil changes that is un needed and expensive.

If your hoses need replacing, do it. it's normal maintenence, and it's not very expensive. Don't replace them if they don't need it.

Just like any other car.

As adam C said, replace them if need be. Take a look at them, doesn't hurt to pull a couple off for closer examination. Do they seem brittle? See any cracks developing on the ends of them? If you do, then go ahead and replace them, if not, the motor is gonna go when it's gonna go. As someone else said tho, go ahead and get yourself a water temperature gauge and just keep an eye on it. You should be able to notice when the temp rises too much and shut it down before a problem occurs, don't rely on that idiot light, when it comes on it's usually too late.

If you have good compression, good vacuum readings, and solid boost, I'd say the motor is running just fine.

Replace the hoses if you wanna, it can't hurt (unless you do it wrong...). It'd just be extra insurance against a coolant leak.
