Disassembling Primary turbo
Disassembling Primary turbo
In the process of porting my wastegate. Ive got the turbos separated and removed the six bolts and three plates on the exhaust side, now should the housing just come off? I've tried to separate them but it didn't budge and I don't want to damage anything in the process. Any pointers?
Hold the (aluminum) compressor housing and lightly tap the exhaust (cast iron) housing with a hammer untill it loosens up and comes off. you might have to bang it a little harder at times but it will come off.

Soak the circumferential joint where the CHRA inserts into the turbine housing in PB blast or a similar penetrating oil.
Also, I don't recommend a hammer (sorry Mobe), a much better choice is a rubber mallet. Tends to damage the turbo a bit less
