I may be acquiring an auto fd and will let you know something in the next 3-4 days.

Thanks a bunch! I asked if the 118k one, out in CA, had had a compression test lately/if one could be done. They said sure, for $150. They also said something that didn't make sense. I mentioned 20k since the rebuild, and they replied saying yes, the major service was done in '05, but that was only 8000 miles ago. The mileage on the invoice when the rebuild, and only major service shown for 2005, was performed was 95k though, 114 on the clock now, soo..

why is it unfortunate you Had to limit yourself to an auto ?. just because its an auto dose not make it substandard in anyway. its still an FD and all the pride of ownership comes with it.

Because I'd really rather be driving a manual, though I agree with you, and it's nice to see a fellow enthusiast that's up for modifying an automatic equipped car. Now I know the perfect one to steal! Just turn your head for about 4 hours while I install & adjust my hand controls. I'll leave a stunning Miata in it's place.

Well I just got a 2nd chance offer on the black RX-7 rebuilt by Rotary Power USA, as it was re-listed a 2nd time, (with a 1k lower buy-it-now), and still didn't sell. If I'm not mistaken, I tossed ridiculously lower offer of 4k, just in case it didn't sell and I'd possibly be put on their list for a reasonable counter offer.. surely they're not gonna let it go for 4 grand, and if so, wtf!? :Wconfused Guess we'll see what's up when they respond, LOL. Also, if you see this djseven, did anything come your way?

I bought an auto fd but I am unsure what I am going to do with it. Owner says the trans is shot and I have a spare trans but I never know what I am going to get until it shows up in all honesty. It is coming from the west coast and wont be here for about another 10 days or so. Red/Black Touring with 90k miles, 3k on reman, 18 inch wheels and some other mods. Ill pm you when I receive it. There was a good deal on autotrader last week but when I called it was a fax machine so it was a scam. I have still been trying to find something for you.

I don't think I would notice if a miata was replaced for my Fd... LOL.. anyway good luck with your search I know you will find a nice auto FD just look around their in better shape than the man trans cars most of the time. I just added the pfc with the banzai racing harness adapter so the auto trans shifts to factory specs. going in for tuning in a couple of weeks to see what numbers the auto trans will hold. hoping to get around 300 hp with my mods which for me is plenty fast for the street.

my current mods are:
dp, hf cat, 3 inch catback exhaust, adam c airbox mod with FX racing filter, pfc with auto harness, hks twinpower, large custom smic, all exhaust components from turbo back have ceramic heat treating.

since I am on stock ports and injectors I hope to hit the 300 hp mark reliably with a safe tune. in the future I may go with a water/meth injection kit to add to the reliability.

Especially one with 194k on the clock, and showing it.

Nice and good luck! I'd be interested to know how things turn out for ya, being automatic.

masonholmes 01-22-09 09:36 AM

$4000???

Somthin potentially fishy's goin on with the RX in question.. it was originally listed as buy-it for 11 grand. then relisted as 10. (make offer function) I made a rediculously low offer of 4k, just to get my name on their list. It never sold and I'm being offered it for 4k?!?!! I dunno what to do. Looks /carfax clean, (it's in CA, I can't go look at it), Jeff rebuilt it 20k ago in Dec 2005, turbos included. I'm tempted to buy it and even if it needs another rebuild before long....... Any opinions anybody?

PS - I'm gonna post this in all my RX-7 pondering threads, as I need thoughts ASAP!

djseven 01-22-09 09:46 AM

Thats a hell of a deal as long as the title is clear and the body isnt destroyed. Worst case you could resale it and make a little change. If it were to need a rebuild I am not too far away :)

I tell ya what, if they get back to me today and everything checks out, I'm buying, TODAY! This may be my ticket into my very own financial disaster. Here's the old Ebay link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

It said it was relisted and won for a best offer of 8 grand, but judging by the day it ended and I got the message, I'm assuming it was a deadbeat bidder.

Car looks superb considering the price.

I know, I'm really hoping they get back to me soon, and that it's still available. At that price it'd be worth it just as a lawn ornament! haha. Did you happen to come across any ATX's? (I think it was you that mentioned you might..) I may have missed out on this one as I just had, (another), surgery & it took me 2 days to get back to them..

djseven 01-22-09 11:20 AM

I have one on its way but it isnt here yet, Im still undecided if I will fix it or part it.

Supernaut 01-22-09 12:21 PM

I dont think they have to sell it to you. I've seen that happen in other auctions. The seller can just say the buyer flaked out and thats a good enough excuse to not pay the listing fee and not sell the item. If you do get it that DAAAAMN. You got an awesome deal.

I wonder if an LS1 automatic conversion is possible.

Although rarely done, there are a few automatic LS1 FD/FC swaps.

I've been in contact with the seller for the last few hours and will allegedly recieve the car, SHIPPED, for $4000 total. The title will come via certified mail. I will have 10 days to inspect the car and decide if it is what I agreed upon. If it is not, I am supposedly allowed to return the car at their expense. I NEVER have this kind of luck, but it looks like I'm gonna give it a shot. I will be sending payment tomorrow morning via MoneyGram. Wish me luck!!!

Toyotarx7 01-22-09 11:58 PM

GOOD LUCK DUDE!! let us know when you get your sexy FD, the car looks great!! i cant wait for you to drive it man, im really happy for you, enjoy it

Monkman33 01-23-09 12:04 AM

Whoa!! be careful. I would use some sort of escrow service or third party to hold the funds. This sounds... off.

STOP NOW, THIS IS A SCAM

I've had the second chance offer scam happen to me before, trust me, no way in HELL will they sell it to you for $4k shipped. If the car is really in Costa Mesa, tell them that you have a friend in SoCal that will inspect the car prior to sale. There's a 99% chance he'll never reply back to you.

Monkman33 01-23-09 02:34 AM

this has scam written all over it.

masonholmes 01-23-09 05:46 AM

The car is definitely on a lot in Costa Mesa, as I've spoken in depth with the dealer where it's located. What I've been wondering all along, since I got this 2nd chance offer is who the hell I've been talking to. Thanks everybody for putting the HALT on anything happening just yet. My plan was to wait for the dealer to open and talk to somebody who actually works there, asking about this guy/the price etc. In the meantime I'll email him direct that I'll be having somebody local check out the car. Any other suggestions?

Monkman33 01-23-09 06:05 AM

Have someone you can at least remotely trust check out the car. get documents and everything sent to you, and definitely have someone there put down a deposit with paperwork and them being able to sign for you in your stead, or fax bill of sale docs to them with your sig. Get a papertrail and make sure it is a valid company and someone you can hunt down for money if you have to.

Just saying be careful. Personally... I would have a third party hold the check until the car is loaded up and on its way to you. With the shipping company accepting responsibility of the vehicle (on paperwork) with your address as the delivery location.

Papertrails are your friend in a long distance purchase.

I purchased my fd from FDJunkie and he was a great seller off of this forum. ebay is a tougher nut to crack.

djseven 01-23-09 08:43 AM

It is a scam if they ask you to send money gram, make a thread in the Cali section and pay someone $100.00 to go inspect the car. If they said they would include shipping in that price it definitely sounds like a scam.

Monkman33 01-23-09 08:28 PM

Yeah, it cost me $1400 (which i thought was a good deal) to have my car shipped in an enclosed trailer from missouri to washington state.
