Differential axle seals

I have a leaking seal on the differential where the axle enters it. I have all of the wheel end of axle components loose and with a light tugging on it, it does"nt seem to want to come out. Is there something holding the axle in or do I just need to pull a little harder? Thanks for any help

i bought a 3 foot long crowbar after messing around w a screwdriver. the crowbar end levers against the green metal housing on the axle and the curve of the bar against the rear housing. one nice pop and it is out.
