Difference between stock JDM ECUs?
Difference between stock JDM ECUs?
Hi there,
Going straight to the point, what is the difference between the stock N3F1, N3G2A and N3G2B ECUs?
My '99 RB MT is using an N3G2A, but I can't for the life of me figure out what a B or F1 does differently.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't be surprised the mikuni pump in the F1 version IV car runs a different strategy with the different injectors.
I'm sure the G2A and B ECUs could be swapped without any consequence in the 265hp version V cars.....and probably into the 280hp cars too, if that way inclined.

They changed the ECU plug in the 96 cars and I think they revised it again in 99. If you have a 99 ECU, for example, you couldn't plug it in to a 93, the plugs are wildly different.
Also the original ECU was 8-bit, later ECU's were 16-bit. The later ones are faster.
It's not worth an engineering effort to retrofit a later ECU - changing wiring, etc. At that point get a PFC if you want simple plug and play, it's 16-bit and fully programmable.
