Difference between an RX-7 and an RX-7 R1?

Just wondering what the differences are. Haven't really been able to find much info. Thanks.

The R-1 had the STIFFEST shocks, Z rated tires, as opposed to v rated on others , deleted weight increasing items like the sunroof and cruise control, had lighter seats w/ hi grip suede like fabric, also the larger front lip spoiler and rear wing were std equip not optional. Latter for the 94 model year the R-1 was changed to R-2 that used slightly softer (than R-1) shocks.

yep ^

the r1 was just a package offered for the 93 - 95 rx7's that was more race ready.

R-spec models also had two oil coolers (only one on base, touring and PEP), and a front strut tower bar.

I allway forget that b/k my TOURING also has 2 oil coolers but one is for the TRANS! all the Auto Trans cars get a trans oil cooler in the pass side duct location.
