Did R2 have different cloth seats than R1?

Look at this auction http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1841815941

It looks like an R2, but did they change from suede to cloth in 94 with the R2? I know they made the suspension softer () but did they change the cloth too?

I didnt think so, but I am not sure

they did not change the materal in the r models from 93 to 94 the seats he has in the car are base seats. there are 3 different types of seats the car with the rx7. leather, that dotted material, and the r cloth seats. BTW r seats are not sude. hope that helps.

In the auction, it says that he had the seats re-done. It appears that the car is indeed an R-2, although there are several things which are incorrect, incuding the shift ****, the tailpipes, the lights in the console, and there's some sort of non-factory intake duct installed.

Actually on my R2, the guy didnt want the suede for some reason. So they helped him out and put leather in there from factory. I guess Iam kinda glad to. I love leather.

Yeah it seems legit. He has the Racing Beat Inlet Duct which is probably good for about 10HP, so 265 makes sense. Those seats have definitely been redone, they are not stock cloth, R1/R2 "suede" (really another kind of cloth...), or leather (obviously). At the current price its a steal but don't count on it to stay there, prepare for sniping...

So, what is this car then, 100 miles away from a clogged pre-cat? Then again, that 2000 service might have included a new precat...

About time for the AST to crack...

Yeah, the Exhaust gas and alarm lights have been moved to just behind the shifter, instead of the right of the ashtray. Right???

$45K sticker? I think not!

Very clean one. It should sell well.

The seat is from a base model. The intake duct is Racing Beat. I can't tell if it's a base model dressed in R2 drag or if he just changed the seats. I can't imagine why anyone would change the R2 seat though since it's very light and durable. The R2 seats are more dark gray than black compared to the rest of the interior. That's the only reason I could think of.
