did i pop my motor?

i was driving my car kinda hard today and after my last race i noticed that the car sounds weird. it sounded just like it has a big cam in it. the idle is at 800 rpm but its only pulling about 10-9 inches of vacume. when the car is in low rpms it shakes alot but as soon as i go over 3000 rpm and hit boost the car runs good.
do you guys think i popped my motor?

its not the map sensor because the car still gets full boost.

I would go with your first assumption. You probably crack or chipped the apex seal. Time for a rebuild. Even with the apex seal damaged you can still drive your car. It will still boost properly but off the line you need a lot of gas to get her going. Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree with nocab72. Just cuz you get full boost, does not mean that the map sensor did not get disconnected! Just check it and get back to us.

If you have a rumpty-rumpty kind of idle... it could be several things. However, you've not posted you Mods or mileage on the motor, so it's impossible to tell your problem. Hell, it could a bad plug or failing plug wire... Try posting again with more information.

sounds like a minor chip on the apex seal. Sometimes you'll still be able to drive your car around and sometimes you can't depending on the seriousness of the crack or chip. However, i'd doubt you'd want to drive it in the condition it is in now because it might cause further damage to your rotors and housings.

If you do suspect chipped or fractured apex seal(s) you'd likely complete the destruction of the seal when under boost. The result could be catastrophic to you turbos... The resultant Apex seal shrapnel would likely damage the the turbine blades. Consider that A new "reman" motor from Malloy Mazda costs $2,070.00 and New turbos cost are $2,800! At this point you may, at worst, be only looking at a rebuild charge of your existing motor. Put you location in a future post or PM me. Depending on where your located, I may be able to point in a good direction. Good Luck
