Actually, it is best to NOT combine them to only make one set. The reason there is 4 wires is one set needs to be hooked up to be hot all the time and the other set is to be hot only when you turn your lights on. One set is to illuminate the gauge and the other is to power the unit. Sorry I don't have my manual with me, but the instructions should be pretty clear. If you do hook them up all as one set, the light will be on during the day. Sorry I could not be of more help.

I don't know how you are doing it but I am in the process of wiring mine now...I have egt, boost, oil temp, and water temp...The link cables from gauge to gauge are a bit short for me...I took mine to work to day and extended the power wire for the computer and then also extended two of the gauge cables....will see if they work later...

But I did wire them up lastnight to see if they worked and they did...I spliced into the turbo timer harness on the big red wire and put the red and orange wire on it...then the white wire I put on ash tray light in the center console....then drilled a hole in that curved funky piece of metal by your left knee under the dash...screwed the ground into that...

with that wiring configuration the gauges worked and then lights on the gauges came on only when the lights on the car were turned on...

HOWEVER! I never had the sensors hooked to the computer and I didn't read the directions so I was getting some funky flashing red light...but was probably due to me banging away at the buttons...

I am going to solder the connections tonight and then run the sensors to the engine bay for later installation...will let you know how it panns out...

later

Ok...I wired it like I said above and mine are fine...the sensors are connected but not yet in their desired spot in the engine bay...but sure makes for a cool looking set of gauges...I actually have a post with some pics...
