i have searched and did not find what i needed.

I got a decat pipe that i wish to fit but am unsure about the air pump.
i know it can be removed but dont wana harm my engine.
do i just remove it and plug the holes or is there more to it???

mods are just filters and downpipe.
thanks

build date was prolly 92.

Decat he prolly means midpipe.

when you remove the AP you would prolly see a rough idle. (its been reported) And you should add a boost controller/ port the WG for better boost control.. that beind said the general concensus is no to adding a MP without some type of EMU.

ok so meant mid pipe but as you can see im in the uk and we call it a decat pipe.
As far as im aware JDMs came out in 1992 but it is a 93 model.
so it can be done but would be better with a ECU like a PFC???

we normally need the airpump to pump ambient air into the main cat under the car (mid-pipe), not the pre-cat (downpipe), to keep the cat from getting clogged.

do you have a pre-cat on EU cars or more specifically your car? It is more advisable to replace the pre-cat with a 3" downpipe to reduce heat and improve flow than the main cat. The pre-cat mounts immediately to the turbos and feeds into the main cat under the car.

If you are running an exhaust w/o any cats at all, your car will be louder, smell of exhaust fumes and you will either need an aftermarket ECU like the PFC and potentially a boost controller to keep your car from making more than 10psi and blowing the engine.

I suggest you go to the advanced tech section and start reading as these topics have been covered many times before and the answers are there.

He has a downpipe, he also has a cat-back but currently is still using the stock main cat. He wants to elimenate the main cat and airpump and replace the main cat with a midpipe. (Or as they say a de-cat)

Goods and the bads: More power, less weight and obstructions attached to the car -- louder exhaust note, excessive emissions and potential damage to motor due to boost spikes and creep.

Needs:
To remove the main cat all you need is a midpipe to replace is. However this will increase exhaust flow so much that the stock ECU will not be able to keep up and give the engine enough fuel for the added airflow. To correct this you need an ECU specifically designed for use with a mid-pipe. The other option would be to remove your turbos and have the wastegate ported out to keep your turbos from boosting more than 10PSI (.68 BAR).

To remove the airpump you will need to block off the ACV lones and remove the now unneeded pipes to the airpump and main cat. You can either make your own block off plates from thick aluminum sheed (1/4" -- 3-4mm) or you can buy a block-off kit from a shop like RX7store.net. You will also need to either pickup a Greddy pulley kit to compensate for the lack of an airpump OR find a 30" 4-6 rib serpentine belt to function with the stock pullies.
