Dead speedometer

I went to drive the car today and halfway to work I realized that I could not tell what speed I was going. The needle stays at zero and the odometer and trip meter do not work. (they are visable, but do not change) What could it be? Just disconnected? It has alway worked before. I did a search and the only thing I can come up with is to check the speedometer sensor, whatever that is. Any advice or hints on working on the speedometer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

More than likely either the Seed Sensor is bad or became unpluged.. its very easy to get to under the car, jack up the passenger side, crawl underneeth and it is located on the passenger side of the transmission back near the shifter....
