Dead Battery

I just replaced the alternator in my 93 touring. The car has been sitting for about 2 months because i wasnt getting a spark so the battery is completely dead. When i tried to jump it last night all the normal lights and sounds came on when I turned the key to ON not START. But when I tried to crank the motor all the lights went out and no crank... Turn the car off and back on and the dash lights were magically back. I let the jumper car run will hooked up to the RX7 for a minute and try to start it again but same thing.

Any ideas of what to check?

Either the jumper cables are not securely fastened, or your battery cables need to be cleaned, or both.
