Dating my PFS ECU?!

Hey Guys -

I was doing some audio work on a friends car and noticed that his boost pattern was a little funny (driving the car home). He is running the basic PFS package (Purple ECU w/ 3 way adjustable **** (no commander it seems), PFS airbox, PFS SMIC, DP, PFS Exhaust).

No matter what setting the ECU is set to (Low, Med, Hi) I couldnt get the primary turbo to boost past 9psi. Obviously this led me to think he has a blown turbo w/ those mods, but then again, I know little to nothing about the ECU and its associated maps.

He purchased/installed all the upgrades listed above in the 99/00 timeframe, and based on the limited research I have done, it seems that his Pink software should be up to date. Is there a way I can verify this, then look at the maps to check his boost pattern (9-7-10/12/14 depending on the setting of the ECU).

I used the search function but when you search PFS ECU and software you get a ton of stuff about how bad this ECU sucks.

Thanks for the help!

Steve

The ECU does not suck & the problem probably has nothing to do with the ECU.

If you don't have the Commander or the software there is no way to look at the maps. Typically the ecu gives you stock boost at setting one, 12 lbs on setting two and 14lbs on setting three unless you have adjusted it, or at least that's the way mine was when i first installed it.

Look for a hose off someplace.

Do you have the handheld commander thing? I can tell you what to push in that to verify the boost settings. Also if you look at the purple unit itself there may be writing on the ecu that says the software revision. Most purple box's I've seen have this...
