Damn!! Mazda dealerships are smart!

I was at my local dealership today, getting an extra key made for my car. So the manager of the dealership was making the key for me and he says "I reallly like your car. That thing has four turbos, right?". I knew they were stupid, but I thought they knew a little about their own car.

I thought about picking up an RX-8 as a family car, but you know that these same guys are supposed to be handling warranty service. I just can't see how they are going to do any better with customer service on the RX-8 compared to the RX-7. Get ready to hear the tales of woe and incompetence from RX-8 owners that relied on their Mazda dealer for service.

Now, if they ever get off the dime and release a new 7, I'll buy one and work on it myself, new or not. I don't mind doing that for my *good/fun/track* car. I just don't feel like doing that for my family car...

Did you tell him it was AWD too, each turbo powers 1 wheel.

I went to AutoZone looking for a check valve, didn't see any so I asked the guy at the counter, he asked what car it was for, 94 RX7, his response was "did you check the lifters"? I said "it's an RX7" and he said yes I know!

Not knowing the problem or anything he just suggested it was the lifters.

Isn't that the reason why you bought yours in the first place? It was mine .

There should be more RX-8's sold, plus the engine is less complex with N/A. I'm sure there will still be better specialist shops, but normal maintenance should be a huge improvement of knowledge of the 3rd Gen.

Yep, the last time I was at the Mazda dealer getting the oil changed on my wife's Protege, a sales guy asked me what I drove. When I told him, he asked if it still had a rotary and if it was turbo or not. He's only a sales guy but damn....

I have tried to order parts for my 7 and they tell me that many of the parts I try to order are not made anymore. All I can do is shake my head. By the way, the dealer wanted $15 to have keys made. That was not even for Mazda keys.
