Damn Insurance!!

I am a 21 year old male with one speeding ticket on my record I have been driving for 5 years. I am in the process of purchasing a 3rd gen 93 rx-7. Today I went and got a quote for insurance from an insurance broker and I was quoted about $500 down and a monthlty bill of $360. Is it just me or does every one with my same circumstances pay this ridiculous amount of money for insurance on their 7's? The insurance might as well be another car note. Can someone with a 3rd gen RX, around my age and with a similar driving record tell me how much your monthly is for insurance. Or are their in reccomendations for insurance companies that are cheaper? I hope this does'nt discourage me from getting my car.

Holy moly that's a lot... I'm 20 with no accidents and 3 speeding tickets since 16 and from state farm i was quoted, with no discounts, at $980 every 6 months. After multi line, multi car and good student discounts it's down to $680/6mo. Shop around, good luck, hope you can find it cheaper somewhere because you'll seriously be missing out if you can't drive an FD

Uh, that's nice and all, but insurance rates are going to be just a little different from Iowa to California.

SwizzRx7, you might look into an insurance company like Geico or Progressive, the more nuetral and national ones. A lot of companies like State Farm take your zip code for calculating your rate. Depending on that, they automatically increase/decrease the rate regardless of your driving record.

For instance, in Kansas City, when I owned my 300zx, I payed around $200 per month (years ago). I moved about 10 miles and my rate changed to $500 per month, just from the zip code change.
