D.C. Cadillac Grand Prix

Went Saturday. Saw the Mazda Star race. Those guys ran muffler and it sounded nice; alot better than the 4 cylinders type R and Protege; sorta like a 6 cylinders but not quite.

The best looking car was the Ferrari 550 Olive Garden special. The thing about this car was that they lowered the engine so much that at first I thought it was a flat-12. But the driver (Italian too) told me No, itsa v-12 sixxe litter. It's very fast down the straight as it can hang with the vipers. The vipers sounded good too. They were so torquey that the vipers needed only 2 shifts b/w 1st turn and 2nd turn whereas the Porsches and Beemers needed 3 shifts.

I stood by the exit on the first turn and called my voice mail so that I could record all the cars hammering down the track. I might just use it for my greeting.

The best sounding was the Lola/Judd; second best was the 550. These cars sounded like they're singing an aria. Worst sounding: the corvettes and the Panoz. They sounded like heavy construction equipment. That sealed it for me, I'm not going to put an LS6 in my car. At least the rotary sounded like 1/2 of a v-12 to me.

It was hard to keep track of what's going on, but nothing beats the experience of 1800 h.p. at Wide Freaking Open and feeling the sound wave in your bod.
