Question custom midpipe with borla xr1?

I'm thinking about making a custom midpipe using a borla xr1 race muffler. My SR resonated midpipe blew out within 3 months or getting it. I was thinking of cutting the piping off the resonator and welding them onto the xr1 muffler. Anyone do this before? What size do I need. I assume a 3" inlet and outlet but what about the dimentions of the muffler? How does it sound? I realy loved how mine sounded before but now it sounds all buzzy and raspy.

PFS constantly does this. I've heard of several PFS cars with XR-1 midpipes. Steve Khan runs an XR1 muffler in his 10sec FD. It sounds sound rivery or raspy at all. It has a nice mellow tone to it.

You can order XR-1 mufflers with almost any diameter intlet and outlets. Getting one with 3" pipes wouldn't be a problem at all.

After burning out 2 random tech cats. I ordered a Borla xr1
the 12" model with the three straight though chambers. You can get a single chamber as well. We cut out the Ramdom and used
it's 3" in 3" outlet pipes.... the Random is about the same size.
And welded the Borla in.

It flows quite well. I noticed that my car is a little quieter than
other 3rd gens out here with a straight mid-pipe. You can really notice it at idle.
Still has a nasty bark a WOT. Hey but it's a rotary!!!
