Cusco strut bar and Greddy Elbow problem.

I recently had the Greddy polished intake eblow and extension piping installed, and having some clearance problems with my Cusco "D" shapped strut bar that I didn't have before. If I tighten the strut bar all the down, it pushes down on the engine... lowering it 1/4-1/2".

That's not ideal. Has anyone had a similiar problem and could recommend a strut bar that would clear that piping better? There are so many bars out there... I don't want to order 5 of them and have to send them all back.

Thanks!
Steve

strut bar

I have the same setup. My strut bar contacts the intercooling piping where the silicone hose fits over the polished aluminum hard pipe leading to the elbow. It rubs slightly, but does not push the engine down like you are describing. There is a fair amount of "extra" metal on the mating surface of the elbow, where it contacts the o-ring on the throttle body. If you elongate the four mounting holes on the elbow so it can be slightly turned or tilted down, you could probably still make an air-tight seal between the elbow and throttle body and get additional clearance under the strut bar. Alternate plan is to carefully make a dent in the hard pipe to clear the bar. Good luck in any case. Don't think other bars will help- if they raise up, they will rub on the hood.

Try putting a couple of washers under the inner most connecting bolt on the strut towers (under the strut bar mount). This should give you a little bit more clearance, without sacrificing the solidiity of the bar.

Let me know if this helps, Adam

Hey Adam, actually I was thinking just that. I can put a few washer under there, if I get those nuts torqued down correctly, and the thread goes all the way to the top of the nut.
