Question Curing exhaust heat shield rattles

I wish it were as simple as buying a high-flow cat and rb dual, but I'm only $1100 short of that solution. That's all my search turned up.

The car sounds a little 'loose' when I start it up, and last time I was under I poked around and found I could wiggle the heat shield on the upstream side of the cat.

How can I keep it quiet? Can I cut off the shield altogether or replace it? I'm tired of sounding like cheap rice.

TIA.

A competent exhaust shop should be able to spot weld the heat shield back together. It should hold, at least for a little while.
