Crispy Fuel Injector Wires

Okay, so maybe I am being paranoid, but this is killing me, and I do not want it to cost me an engine.

I am in the process of upgrading my secondaries to 1600's. Anyways, I was solderring in the the new fuel injector clips, and noticed that the fuel injector wires were very brittle. One of them even snapped a couple of times as I tried to solder the new connection in.

I finally got all of the wires soldered in, but I am afraid that they are going to snap. I do not want to spring $700 for a new harness, so I was wondering, Can I just run new wires, and tap into the harness where it connects to the PFC? Has anyone sucessfully pulled this off?

Thanks

You can just trace the wires back - most times they aren't damaged the WHOLE way, just for a short section that's under the intake manifold that takes the heat.

Also, it's typically just the wiring insulation that cracks, not the wire itself.

ya i agree with dale, only reason the copper wire will break is if it's worked to much. ie. bending back and forth

Well this makes me fell a little better. I was pushing down on my cheap *** soldering gun trying to make it heat up the solder. I think this may have instegated some of the wire cutting.

The wires themselves, (not the sleeves) do feel very brittle. I think worst case scenario I will do as Dale suggested, and just dig down till I get to a point where the wire is no longer brittle, and solder from there.
