Crazy Intermittent Dash Problem
Hello,
When I turn my '94 FD's key to the on position, my dash works.
When I start the car, only the fuel gauge appears to work. The odometer, tach, speedo, coolant all go dead. However, the warning lights (not on the dash) work (check engine, brake, etc.).
The WEIRD part: When I turn the wheel to the right or left the dash works for a moment while the power steering pump "works". The key thing that pops the dash on seems to be related to putting load on the steering wheel in the rotational direction. Any ideas on this? The previous owner said it started happening about the time he installed a blitz boost controller. The two might be linked, they might not.
As a note, the Check Engine light is on with the EGR and Fuel Thermosensor codes. Is the only way to diagnose these codes to take apart the intake? What is the common EGR failure mode?
Thanks
