crazy BOV idea

hey every1,
I'm running NS with the CRV and BOV both venting pressure from the stock locations....but i had an idea. With them both back there, the boost that has been through the IC has to run backwards to exit the BOVs, making this setup a little in-efficent. So i was thinking, why not cap of the stock CRV location, then move it up to the hole on the elbow where the AWS used to take air in? That way, it would vent the air that had already came through the IC, as well as the freshly compressed air from the turbos......lemme know what u all think about that.

I thought they had the BOV and in your case the CRV by the compressor to better protect against the pressure coming back to the compressor side of the turbos?

it's not venting air that has to pass back through the IC. It is just simply venting pressure that has built up in the entire turbo system from the turbo all the way to the intake manifold. So it isn't really sucking air back through the IC. The benefit to moving the BOV, is increased throttle response because you are venting air that is mostly built up after it has already passed through the IC, therefore when you get back on the gas, the air entering the intake manifold has less distance to travel because some of it is already built up after the IC. With the stock IC, it won't make much of a noticeable difference if one at all. It is more important when using a large front mount type of IC.
Hope this helps

okay, so with a stock turbo setup and stock IC, i wont see much in benefits?

Your thinking is not that bad at all . The BOV is to keep the pressure ( when the throttle is slammed shut ) from slowing the turbos down . The vents near the turbos are fine . The vent at the elbow is faster because the back pressure starts at the throttle . Try this ,get another stock bov and put it on the elbow as you are thinking , run three. Garfinkle has the two stock and one on the greedy elbow .He has taken the stock ones apart and changed the springs so they are closed at idle and open when the engine makes a higher vacuum when the throttle is shut at a higher rpm than idle . That way the air flow at idle is not lost from the open stock valves . Can you say better low end boys and girls .
