Last Monday night I did not fully close the driver's door after parking in my garage. Since it is in garage, I normally do not arm the alarm so I did not look at the door
The next morning I noticed the door not fully closed and the battery would not start the car but the lights worked.
After charging the battery, all seemed normal until I tried to arm the alarm system after going to the gym Friday. No alarm lights came on.
My car is a 92 FD R1.
Today I borrowed a CPU2 from a crashed 95 FD. It works fine with two noticeably differences. After arming, there is a beep and it takes longer for the light to start blinking.
Both CPU2s are the FD01 versions.
My original alarm system did not beep.
What years beep when armed?
See attached picture. The is a burned area on the circuit board. All the capacitors look OK. I think this board is a write off since I need a schematic to know what all was affected and their values.
Is there any place that repair
CPU2s?
Michael Gagne is trying to make a new CPU2 board with modern components. That may be a way off but it's a good thing. I know he's said that it's VERY hard to fix CPU2's.
I was experiencing issues with my hazards coming on seemingly at random. I pulled CPU2 and had a look - no obviously bulging caps but did have decent corrosion on bottom of several caps which I did my best to clean up and recapped everything, didn't fix the issue unfortunately.
