Question counterweight for lightweight flywheel

is it a big advantage to use a counterweight on the act lightweight flywheel? I heard using a lightweight flywheel is bad on the fd, but will the counterweight more than enough compensate by adding more rotational mass?

uhh, you *HAVE* to use a counterweight, otherwise you won't have a motor

the stock flywheel has a counterweight built in, aftermarket ones do not

You have to run a counterweight when running an aftermarket flywheel. A light flywheel is not good for drag racing, but that goes for any car. If you had "heard" a light flywheel is bad for an FD, why would you still consider one?

Bad? No

Appropiate for the application?

That depends on what you do with the car. As rynberg already pointed out, they are not ideal for drag racing.

are they ideal for anything? n about them not being appropriate for drag racing, how much of a dif does a lightweight flywheel make over a stock 1?

get a twin plate clutch and call it a day, you get the benefits of sprung hubs, the benefits of great grip, and a lighter rotating assembly

i don't know why you guys mess around with lightweight flywheels and calf building pressure plates and clutch discs that chatter your guts out

Because they are ideal for track bound FD's.

AznPhoenix,

Read the last post I made in your old thread:

It's personal preference. There are several single and twin turbo'd track FD's here on the forum. However, for a track bound FD, that's the least of your worries. You'll need to get your cooling set first for both coolant and oil, as well as a decent IC.
