Could there be a RX7-2?????

Hello all, I was wondering if anyone has heard of a Rx7-2. I got wind of it from Jeff Hass Mazda in Houston, TX. I was there picking up parts and one of the guys mentioned it to me. He says it's suppose to look like the jpsec except no turbos. And cost is looking anywhere around 25-30k. Sounded weird to me since the rx-8 looks like a possible release. Just wondering is this FACT or FICTION?

I would love that to be true....why ? For the shear fact that would mean FD parts would be available for such a long time....I could keep my car or many years to come....

Um, RX-8 possible release? Where have you been? You can already reserve them.
As for the RX-7, 30K for no turbos sounds too much to me. Anyway, I think it's pretty much been said by Mazda, they're waiting to see what numbers the 8 pulls before bringin back the 7 and a rotary Miata.

=)

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on the 8's but i don't keep up with it. I think it's a pretty ugly car. I'd get a civic long before I would get an 8. or for that kinda of money I would get a C-class mercedes. It's not a very good looking car. I'm sure their are many that would argue but opinions are opinions. And about the return of the 7, again, I was told that by an employee of Mazda. I would think he would know more than we would. Or at least have a good insight on what's to come. I would like to see it return, that is for sure. I can't even go to the dealer and get an o-ring. Everything I buy I have to order. Sucks And I think we would all agree on why the 7 didn't survive. It was a bit expensive for a 2 seat sports car. Especially coming from Mazda. 25-30k would sound about right for a returning rx7... Just slap a single on their and you would probably push more HP than the 93-95 rx7 at a cheaper price. I mean would you rather pay for the msrp of the 93-95 rx7 for the stock TT... Now or buy one for 30k and slap a single on? I mean there are people paying around 35-40k for the s2000 =)(no turbos) when they were first coming out.. I think there would be people paying 30k for the return of the 7 with a big smile.

Definately a rumor. Information from dealerships are notoriously unreliable and shouldn't be trusted(especially if it comes out of some salesman). And no, they aren't really "Mazda Employees"

Mazda has already announced the RX-8 is next and nothing beyond that has been finalized. Thats fact.

Right, salesmen don't know anything about the cars on the showroom floor nevermind the ones they think they can guess are coming.

Ok, good point on the pricing. As long as it has the Renesis with more than 250hp it would be worth it. If they didn't bog it down like the 8 which started at 280 hp.
I got my info from an article on Rotary News website.

Talking

I guess time will be the only reliable source. And it didn't come out of a salesman mouth. I know they don't know much. The parts manager told me. I dunno if he knows much either but I guess we will see. I was just hoping someone here had a direct source. Well Happy New Year to all.

I don't know what he mean by that. But 4 gen RX-7 will be in production in Japan around 2004. FD will not come back to US. Wait for the 4 gen. Start save your money.

Look what i just found on another forum

**Funny that he mentions that they are not coming with turbos as well.

<<<<<<
Hey, does anyone know anything about the new Rx7 that came out in Japan this year? I went on the net and found some stuff from Mazda about the new Rx7 in Japan, and it's really sweet. I mean, it's basically a 3rd Gen Rx7 with just alot of little mods to it. Where the parking lights
are, instead of a cover being there, it's clear, and there's two round
lights in there. 1 clear and 1 amber. (looks really sweet!!) Then,
there's a sunken in place in the middle of the front spoiler that's made
just for the front license plate. And surprizingly enough, it actually
looks pretty nice! I was surprized. And the only other difference I
could see is the little side blinker. That's right, there's an amber
blinker on the side of the car, on the fender, right in front of the
door. I usually don't like those on the Eurpean cars, cause they don't
look THAT great. Just okay. I've seen a few that were okay. But I
actually liked it on the new Rx7. Not bad at all.

See, I had heard that this year, they were supposed to be importing the
Rx7 again, and it wasn't going to be a turbo anymore. Just an engine.
But I didn't know what kind of engine, or if it was more powerful or
anything like that. Just heard that they were reimporting it, and it
didn't have a turbo. But the one I saw seemed to have a turbo on it, and
it seemed to be just like a 3rd gen, and I never heard them call it a 4th
Gen. So I think it's still the 3rd Gen, just a new body style is all.

Does anyone have any more info on it? I would like to know. Right now I
have one KICK *** picture of a 3rd Gen Rx7 on my desktop that they had on
the site I was lookin' at. They had like 6 pictures you could get of the
new Rx7, and most of them were really sweet!! They were made for
desktops, and they were in all the standard desktop sizes too. So it's
very well done. If anyone wants the 4 good ones I've got, just ask and
I'll try and email them to you. They're a tiny bit big, cause they're in
BMP format, but not bad, though. You really should see them, though.
They're awesome pictures, and the new Rx7 looks sweet!!

No one except the desinger will know what it looks like for now. They are still in design. Nothing in stone yet. Not much info around. Only some rumor. But Mazda did say there will be a 4 Gen in 2004. We may see it, if RX-8 sales great.

What you describe is RX-8, not the RX-7 replacement.

Brian C. has clearly been living under a rock and doesn't understand what he's talking about. No need to post the pics as anyone can get them from Mazda's Japan site HERE. Jason even has a link posted on the main site here to the Bathurst R

FACT: All looks aside, an RX-8 will kick the asses of the Civic and the C-class. I think the styling is as controverial as the FD when it first appeared. I like them both.

I read somewhere (UK car magazines?) that the next RX7 will be a more powerful RX8 without those rear suicide doors and with only two seats.

The RX-8 grows on you, and the interior really looks nice (the tailights are way too ricey tho), but it still doesn't compare to the 3rd gens in terms of beauty. The RX-8 is larger and with about the same max horsepower, so I'm guessing it won't have near the performance either. Not to mention the fact that it's taller, and not as flat and low as the 3rd gens. It just doesn't look like it will match it in any areas, except maybe reliability and longevity because of the lack of turbos and 8 more years of engineering.

I like the RX-8. Only thing I'm not looking forward to is the ugly *** body kits that will come out for it. That, and a new following of ricers.
Just imagine that with a Veilside kit and an alluminum wing.

I like the Rx-8 and I think it will sell very well, though I have no plans to buy one. But the Rx-7 that guy may have been talking about is the Bathurst edition model that's shipping in Japan only. It's basically an FD.

It should be interesting to see what's happening with the 4th gen development. Supposedly is would be built on the Rx-8 chassis, but that doesn't mean it has to look similar at all.

It will most certainly be using the same platform. This platform was designed to serve in a variety of cars. I'm sure a 7 would have some styling differentiation.
