If the water pump is what caused the belts to fall off then there should be some play in the pully. If you have coolent around the water pump pully its almost a gurantee that something inside of it broke. Most water pumps that i have fried have made themselves very obvious by dumping all my coolent instantly onto the ground. If your getting a steady leak from that area check all hoses for wetness. If they are nice and secure then look to the pump. I personally hate water pumps they all should be shot

Right behind the waterpump pulley is the weephole. Look to see if coolant is coming out of it. That's how you know the waterpump is bad (or going bad). You may have completely siezed the waterpump somehow, or the pulley is wobbling causing the belt to come off, in which case you may just have loose bolts on the pulley. The shaft seals on the waterpump will go out and the weep hole will leak... and eventually I believe the pump will seize but I've never personally seen it.

I'd check the pulley and re-assemble the belts... Have someone crank the car... If the belt flies off the waterpump pulley then it's seized. (Probably better to just remove it and check though... I don't know if you can cause any other damage by trying to see if it turns while physically on the car. Hope I helped a little...

The water pump may be bad or have gone bad and you obviously dropped a belt...Hopefully you didn't overheat the car ? If so you will be engine shopping shortly.
