Cooling question, FMIC with stock location radiator ok?

From what I can see lots of people with FMIC do a vertical radiator. Is this purely for clearing the piping or does it cool more efficiently like that. Better airflow?

This is how its currently setup.

Is this going to be ok? or should I start over on the FMIC / Radiator setup?

The intercooler and piping came with the car when i bought it as a roller.

As of right now the car has no under tray. I will probably make one later on.
There is also vented hood on the car.

Most front mounts will not fit with the radiator in the stock position. Also, you are already blocking the radiator so leaving it at an angle will further hinder cooling ability. Unless you have a dedicated duct to the radiator, I would advise against this.

That seems to be the Rx7Fashion FMIC. As long as you have your undertray on, you should be ok.

Just add a duct to ensure maximum flow through the radiator. Since you have a vented hood, keeping the engine cool is much easier.

get an undertray and seal the sides of the radiator so the little air that does come through actually flows through the radiator rathr than go around it.

Search for ducting for various threads on the topic.

BTW, the stock undertray is extremely important for a radiator in the stock position because it's designed to "ramp" air towards the radiator.

Thanks for everyone's input.

For now I think I'll just buy an oem undertray and block off/ramp the sides of the radiator. If I encounter a heating problem later on I'll just have to drop some money and do a Vmount.

I'm off to the classifieds to find an undertray.
