cooling issues??

I have recently pulled the cat on my car and disconnected the air pump. I have noticed that my water temp on my aftermarket gauge run a bit warmer 190f fans on and 197f fans off on the highway at about 3k rpm. Before the mod i would run anywhere from 170f-185f with the fans kicked on. I didnt retune my pfc but i am have made sure to keep my boost down and also had a watchful eye on the wideband gauge. Everything seems normal with the stock temp read out i get from the pfc its just the water temp gauge thats spliced into my coolant hoses thats got me scratching my head. Anyone have any ideas on why the temps are different before the cat and airpump disconnect?

Thanks,

E

probably because without the airpump, there is less surface area of the belt making contact with the water pump and its probably slipping a bit?

I've some people overlook that part.

Wait.... did you remove the airpump completely or just disconnect the hose to the cat?

disconnected the hose and also disabled the air pump but did not remove it. It can easily get around 200f around town if dont kick the fans on. whats funny is the temp will drop somewhat quickly when im stopped with the fans going. seems like internal temps have gone up quite a bit.

out of curiosity's sake, try hooking your pump and cat back on and see what happens

I literally removed the air pump a couple days ago in place of a tweak it pully. so i dont feel like putting it back on. Now that ive removed the pump though im getting what sounds like an exhaust note from the lower pipe in which the air pump was hooked too. WTF is that?
