Coolant seals are gone! i need some help
My coolant seals bit it a couple weekends ago in my FD, It still starts and blows white smoke, but not horribly bad, so ive been trying to start it and let it run for a few minutes each week. The motor is gonna have to sit for a few months before its taken out and sold/parted out. I dont want the insides to rust all to hell, so what should i put in it to stop that? ive seen several suggestions, including ATF, regular engine oil, and another that i cant remember. Whats best to use, how much should i use, And do i add whatever fluid to the engine like i was doing the ATF trick? Is it better to turn the motor over w/ the starter. or manually? Also could someone link me to a detailed how to for the atf trick. My search fu only gets me generaliztions of it. Sorry if this has been discussed a thousand times... but i suck at searching.

I've had good success with pouring some oil or marvel mystery oil into the intake runners or through the spark plug holes and turning the motor over slowly with a wratchet from the e shaft bolt. Do this every couple of weeks and keep the openings covered after so nothing gets in.

When you're ready to store it/stop starting it up, then drain the coolant, start it and let it run about 20 seconds (to burn off any coolant pooled inside the chambers), and shut it off. Now inject some motor oil or ATF into the chambers. This can be done with a handheld oil can. You can use a small length of vacuum hose, put the hose onto the oil can, and squirt it into both the front and rear vacuum nipples on the passengers side UIM...OR you can pull both lower sparkplugs and run a longer hose down there, but this is harder to do and much messier.
Once this is done, with sparkplugs in place, remove the EGI fuse, and turn the engine 2 or 3 seconds with the starter. Now the oil is pretty well distributed inside the chambers, and will keep rust from forming.
