Coolant Seal Hydrocarbon Strip Test Volunteers?

I had a coolant overflow at my overflow tank area after a 1 hour long hard drive and cool down. Temps stayed stable in the car between 85-86-87 max and it was a 90+ degree day with full sun in traffic. I have also replaced, flushed and filled within last 200 miles.

Anyway, after a pressure test and a negative hydro-carbon block test (Napa) I found A bottle of acustrip tests for hydro carbons and wanted to see if anyone with obvious coolant seal issues wanted to test a few strips and post their results along with their symptoms?I assume I may be in the early stages and don’t need a rebuild until I am ready or start getting a rough idle and/or smoke? My symptoms appear to be little to just the overflow. (No smoke, no rough idle etc) And forget the champagne tests - it’s rubbish and inconclusive unless there is obvious visible oil in the coolant IMO.

Figured I would offer this opportunity to the community but we need a couple of control cars (new rebuilds or known to be clean and free of coolant seal issues) and probably 4-5 smoking, rough idle etc cars. If interested pm me your address. I will send you a few via snail mail and we can have another test for the community.

No help with your control tests, but since you don't have any other symptoms, are you sure your overflow wasn't over-filled to begin with? Caps new? Hoses all tight? Hose to the overflow reservoir clear and not kinked?

Thanks on your points. All solid. Honestly, it could have been over filled. I have since then checked/topped off using a lisle funnel to burp and then made sure my overflow was at half full when cool. I’m watching it closely. I have new caps I will put on later. I don’t like my hose to the overflow from the alum ast-the bend is too abrupt (Just to avoid being to close to the pulley). Will be replacing that this week anyway.
