I purchased one of those no spill funnels so i could burp my coolant system. Tomorrow i wil be starting (trying anyway) my new rebuild for the first time and I had a couple questions and i couldn't find an answer because i think i'm the only one who doesn't know already ...

One, how much coolant does a new motor typically need?

Two, do i hook the funnel to the filler kneck on the water pump, or on the ast?

And three, is it okay on a new startup to already have this funnel in place with a little coolant in it prior to initial startup.
