Coolant line

Will a vinyl braided line suffice? I finished my vacuum hose job and replaced tons of broken items besides that and when I got it all back together I saw a line, I think coming off the throttle body (cant recall, but from that area), that had a slight tear in it.

Fired up the car, everything ran mint... solid 18 vacuum. I checked the line as the temperature came to normal and it started to drip coolant.

So I want to know if this vinyl braided line I have will be good enough? Just asking because thats what I have infront of me at the moment.

No it won't hold the heat or the pressure.

Use that only if you have to and then buy an OEM hose.

If the existing hose is leaking near an end, maybe you can cut it down and attach it until the OEM hose arrives.

Get the OEM line. Any parts store line WILL FAIL ON YOU sooner or later. Mazda's hoses are formed for a proper fit, and they redid all the coolant hoses with higher-temp-rated rubber that will last for a VERY long time.

Do the job right, or you'll be making a post about replacing your motor due to bad coolant seals.

Ray at Malloy is the way to go on the parts as posted above. He'll get you the right part for a VERY fair price.

Only use parts store hose a a band-aid to get the car on the road.

Remember, this is a high-performance sports car - stuff that works on Grandma's Buick WILL come back to bite you in the *** HARD with this car. I can't stress that enough. I had a customer that I had to replace a TON of stuff a previous mechanic did half-***. "I just had that hose replaced!" "Yeah, with a crap part, so it's already failing.".

I very much appreciate the advice. I'll be calling in the morning because I've always been the maticulous kind and never knew this before.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
