Coolant Light keeps coming on

Hi All.

I have an 1996 Rx7 and have a problem which is driving me nuts. Every 2-3 days the coolant light comes up when i start the car and it continues making that noise until i drive it for a while then turns off. I have to top it up with water (not too much) so the sound can go away. I had it pressure tested and there were no leaks, I replaced the coolant sensor but that did nothing. The car does not overheat at all however the coolant overflows for some reason losing water. Has anyone else experienced the same problem and how did they fix it? Appreciate the help guys.

It very well could be that you need to change out your radiator cap. A faultly cap will stick open, and when your car is up to temperature, the coolant drains into your overflow tank, eventually spitting all your coolant out. If you have to keep adding coolant every so often, and your overflow tank seems to be full all the time, It may be a bad radiator cap. I have had this experience very similar to yours. I changed my cap and the coolant buzzer has dissappeared. Hope this helps.

Thanks guys. I will change the radiator cap and see how it goes. FYI, the car has only done 60,000KM.
