I have a 93 fd and my car has devoleped a coolant leek. It appers to be on the left hand side of the upper intake manifold originating from between the "y" pipe and the manifold, It also looks like its behind the wastegate and pooling around the heat sheild on my turbo's. I took a dentists mirror and could not see where exactly it was coming from but the steam it is throwing off seems to be coming from this area... I know a guy who has a friend with a fd and he also had a coolant leek like this but i have'nt ben able to get a hold of him to find out exactly where his was from....I thought mabey this was a common problem and mabey someone could offer some insite?

 

Most likely the turbo coolant lines. Pressure test the cooling system. Refer to the FSM to locate all the coolant hoses.

 

I agree - turbo coolant lines.

Do not drive the car until you get this leak solved and fixed. Both fire and engine damage from coolant loss are a major risk.

well I looked over it the other day and it still eludes me. we tracked down the general area that it could be coming from but it's a real bitch to get to so it's going on the rack this weekend for a tear down and tightening. I think it's from the hard line area a little in front of the y-pipe area by the front turbo. Everytime I work on these things it reminds me of a celica all track...basically no room to work on them....still though got to love them

 

I agree as well, sounds exactly like mine when she had the same leak

Cheap to fix but a pain to get too
