Coolant hose question

ok this might be a dumb question but i just want to hear from all the experts out there. While removing the coolent hose from the drivers side rear part of the engine i broke this clip can i just clamp onto the medal hose sticking out of the engine or do i need to buy a new hose disconnect thing. thanks for any help and sorry for the lack of technical terms

Remove the fitting, slide the hose ALL the way over the hump, and secure with a proper screw clamp. That fiting is a know failure point.

FWIW, I think I used two worm-gear clamps on mine. There's enough length and IIRC, there was a lip to help keep the hose from slipping. No issues for past two years.
