coolant hose question
i was recently driving the other day and the car started smoking right infront of my house. popped the hood and coolent was spraying everywhere. a major slice in the coolant hose behind the coolant filler neck ( the little 90 degree one) i changed it with a little smaller sized one from the local parts store( thats all they had) i had to force it on to get it to fit. ever since then my temp in the day time (usually around 90 to 105) it starts to heat up so i turn the heater on to make it go down. in the evening when its like 70-80 degrees the stock coolant guage stays right in middle. could i have a leak or is it that the hose is not getting enough flow. also the engine smells sweet from all the coolant that was shooting out. i was told it would smell like that for alittle bit because the coolant is burning off. also i made it a 50% to 50% coolant and water. i know thats bad now after doing some research. any help is greatly appreciated

the stock guage started to heat up again it is 100 degrees out side and doing normal driving. once i turn on the heat to 4 it goes down and stays there. could it be the filler neck cap or the thermostat? when i popped the hood it smells sweet like coolant i smelled around and it seemed to be comming from the filler neck cap. but its not leaking. i am 2nd owner and it looks like it had leaked before. could this be why it is overheating?
