Cool Gas Cap on Widebody kit

There's a cool gas cap on the often posted yellow/orange Amemiya widebody car. It also has a scoot hood and was in a magainze last Spetember.

I have looked for something like that. Call it rice, but I think it looks great. Kinda like a Viper cap.

Anyone know what it is/how to get/how to copy well?

Yeah! That's along the lines.

I was looking for something closer to that pic. Reminds me of my first car .... my '79 280 ZX. It's gas cap wasn't as slick but the concept was the same...

Thanks! What was involved in doing it?

I made 2 circles out of steel so the gascap would sit flush i then bought an aftermarket gascap for my motorcycle and had the bodyshop mold it in when they were painting my car. He used a rubber piece off of another wrecked car to seal around the new cap. It isn't perfectly sealed yet though and i sometimes smell gas if i'm full. I THINK that orange one you are talking about used a stock motorcycle gaslid but i'm not sure. I didn't use stock because it would need another key. I've seen a very cleanly done Audi TT gaslid on a 3rd gen also. Mine is smaller than the plastic stock gaslid so it required filling in an welding. I'm not sure but i don't think the Audi one required any filling or welding. It was a white car on the Forum i think. If it helps ...i have drawings of the cap and how it was assembled in AutoCAD if you ever need them.

On that Sparco gas cap. Does it swing open or come off completely?

And I know somewhere I have seen a write-up for installing the gas door from the new Eclipses. That involved a little bending of the cap and some modification to the latch but didn't seem too difficult.

I saw an install of the Sparco unit.. It requires that the filler neck be lengthened to the edge of the body, and thesquare shape filled in with metal to accomodate the new round cap mounting. It does not hinge, it latches, and I'm not too sure if that'd be legal in all states. Here in Colorado, the emissions place checks gas cap pressure holding ability. I don't know how they'd check the sparco unit, or if it's even a street legal replacement for a gas filler cap.
