Has anyone ever cut the roof off of an FD? I always thought it would look great. Probably ruin the car, but it would like cool and go fast.

 

i belive peter farell has a car like that ,or at least a kit or something ,if so its a conversion they must do themselfs , there is a lot of customwork involved , i have seen this personally once .....looks really ugly

I saw a convertable FD.It was ugly. Don't attempt it.

I saw one in Mid 90's when I was visiting my ex in Washington DC..

I think it was a silver FD with black top.. It was unique.. but can't imagine doing that to my car..

I actually think that purplish one in that pic floating around here looks pretty good. I know most you disagree.

 

It might look ok with more of a porsche or supra style targa top but not as a full convertable. It looks too miata like.

I think that Porsche nose kit for for FDs is one of the worst things around. There there is that ultra Acuralike back end. People should just be sterilized for making and installing those. Then they have to drive Yugos for the rest of their lives.

I actually think that pink convertable is pretty badass, minus the pink color of course, but i like the style of it....slap a different color on it and its hot

 

if you do cut the top of an FD, i would think you'd lose all kinds of rigidity and therefore handling. The added weight of the convertible stuff is no good as well. But to each his own...i like my roof!

i like the stock lines personally..i think the ridgity of the chasis makes the car with the solid roof unlike say a targa or something

 

that pink roadster is RE-amemiya made - i'd think it' has more than a few structural reinforcement done. There's so many FD's in japan that some people want it different.

i saw FD convertible for sale about 5 years ago at Florida Autotrader. i'd say it's the best way to soften the chassis.

 

that pink FD doesnt look like an FD no more, it looks like a Porche... Pretty gay in my opinion...

 

i agree, it just looks like a porche. cant say i apporve of the idea of a convertable either, im a fan of coupes. targa is always cool though

I think it looks ugly. Like everyone else says, get a Miaga if you want a convertable.
