Connector help - 3 plugs near ECU (name that plug)

I've just recently done an engine rebuild and put the motor back in. I finally got the harness through the firewall and since then I've been stumped by 3 plugs.

The two single wire plugs are female spade connections internally. The 3rd plug has an identical twin which plugs into the little box behind the ecu. If you guys could tell me where those connectors go, I would really appreciate it. I've circled the offenders in red.

Do you have a newer engine harness? The new harnesses have the fan recall wiring built into them - that looks like the case there. Time to yank the recall harness.

Unplug the white connector, the fan recall harness plugs in between the dash and ECU parts of that connector.

The spade terminals are the test connector(s) - you have 2 since one is on the recall harness one is built in to your ECU harness. The black larger connector is for the fan control "brain".

I bought the car back in '06 and this is the harness it had on it. It seems pretty old and brittle so I wouldn't bet on it being a new harness.

I'm also not familiar with the "recall harness".

I'm also a little unclear as to what you're telling me to do. I get that the two spade connectors are not used. It seems to me that the white connector was plugged in when I pulled the motor. I know the blue plug was and it was way up by the firewall hole. I know I don't have everything tucked away where it was but is there a connector that I can't see by the blower under the dash?

I know you know your stuff so I respect your opinion but I don't want to do anything that i don't understand. I know you of all people would understand that.

Thanks again Dale

The original cooling recall involved adding a fan control unit onto the ECU bracket. To wire this into the existing wiring harness, a jumper/helper harness was used to connect it into the stock harness. The later 94's and 95's had the wires for the fan control unit already into the stock harness. People going from the older harness to a new harness end up with extra connectors since the helper harness is not needed with a newer harness.

Ok, I learned something new.

So if I understand correctly, I've got two identical connectors and only one is used. The connector that I have connected to the 'little black box' above the ecu bracket is the wrong one (black with white inside)? I should unplug that one and plug the other one into that box (black with black inside)?

I hope it's that easy.

Thanks again,
Jeremy

Basically, if you have two black plugs for the black fan control box, use the one which is coming from the engine bay. Then remove the jumper harness completely from the car which has the other one.

You guys are great. That's exactly what it looks like. It plugs in between the two white connectors and the two blue connectors. I haven't removed it yet because I wanted to make sure that is correct. I'll take pictures for future members to look through.

Thanks again,
Jeremy
