Definitely! Happy New Years guys, and you too Ken for starting the thread. Now taking odds on how many FD's will hit the junkyard in 2003. :|

I predict some will add water to prevent detonation, others might add traction contorl to save from going out of control and worse and others will convert to a V8.

Lots of interesting things will happen in the upcoming year.

Here's hoping none of you have an accident or blow up your motor.

Two years ago I had a stock FD with a PFS PMC and blew my motor at the high setting. I had no clue about these cars and I made a big costly mistake. Now with all that I learned from experts on the forum and the “Big List” I came up with my current configuration.

Ken, 58 years young
'94 white, pep, red leather,
mods: Hayes/KDR street port & polished,
3mm Hurley racing seals,
upgraded coolant seals,
Power FC ecu, Commander, Datalogit,
XS T04e single turbo kit,
GReddy SMIC (400+cu.in.),
Aquamist 2s water injection kit,
Pettit ss resonated MP,
Pettit ss cat-back,
RP Racing fuel pump,
1600cc injectors,
Profec B(15&20psi),
3-Bar Map Sensor,
Centerforce clutch,
Racelogic Traction Control,
Under pulley kit (no air pump),
Pettit short shifter kit,
LaBreck's bushings,
Evans Coolant
http://nopistons.com/luv94rx7.html
http://flathat.woodstream.net/LUV94RX7/

I now have maximum boost of 20psi at 3500 rpms.

I now have not much of a chance at detonating with water injection.

Most everything I choose was due to members of the forum and the “Big List”.

The exhaust tone is amazing. I thank Pettit for that.

I will take credit for traction control; as of 11-2002 I think I was the only FD with it in the USA. Guys in Europe apparently had it before me. I know there are others now that have it or are getting it.

I originally bought it for getting a good launch and not going out of control during WOT shifts. I was right about that but that is not the real reason. Here is a real world experience on traction control. I think I had the ultimate test being out on the turnpike coming back from KDR with a crappy suspension setup and with my crappy hard rubber tires in below freezing weather and icy roads and I was able to make it 50 miles with semis flying by me at 65mph and trying to blow me off the road. Trust me there is no way this car would have been able to do this without traction control. If I had Blizzak WS-50s on my car I never would have stopped. Tires are the key on snow and ice. I kind of give God and my experience in driving on snow some credit too. I'm not saying you can go around curves on snow and not go out of control; traction control will help but when you start to slide there is not much you can do. My icy road experience was just trying to keep the car on the road in a straight line. I really think it saved my car from going into the ditch or worse.

Shiat..I'd be lost without this forum.

My life got really bumpy for a moment there when I found out I was heading to the UK..but I'm back to learning about my FD once more.

Good stuff on this forum...the best!

Why was Dont Be A Rikki banned??? I must have missed something. I Still want to thank him for the Non-Seq. How-to in his site: http://www.dontbearikki.com/id49.htm

Without his info I'd still be chasing down boost/no boost issues... Thanks Ryan.

Thanks to all the members who take the time to answer my questions. Some have been answered, but sometimes the ONE guy who'll keep from shouting "SEARCH!", can answer it quicker than it would take me and half the world to find it in a search!

The best contributors know who they are. Thanks all.

Cool Thanks

matty, thanks for the recognition

I'd say my noteworthy contribution for 2002 is the 9 x 17 (or 9 x 18), 45-mm offset, 255/40-17 (or 255/35-18) all around wheel/tire combination for FD Rx7. The combo (17 or 18) really does work well, and is the perfect option for FD Rx7 owners that drive mostly on the road, but do occasional track and autocross events. ARD T2 has coined this fitment the "SleepR1 Fitment" It's been proven with several FD Rx7 Forum members who are happily enjoying the setup.

FWIW I do get lots of help from DamonB, dclin, rynberg, ARD T2, maxcooper, and bradrx7, so thanks again to those members!

As for real-life, yeah...the track is the only SAFE place to test wheel/tire/brakes/suspension mods, and I've had lots of time there! I just wish, FD Rx7 owners like Jaymz, Jason, Javier, and Nocab72 would let me test their hot FDs on track (Mid Ohio or Putnam Park) so they can truly know what their money has bought them for high speed road course work

BTW, I thank rxrotary2_7 for staying on top of the 3rd Gen Forum; AND for helping me NOT be the only mod that tells noobs to do a search

Happy New Year

This has turned out to be a positive year end thread. I'm pleased, but I want to have GMONSEN and JIMLAB back in full force. I miss them here. They have contributed so much.

I want to thank the many others on this forum for making it what it is to me - "The Greatest Car Forum On This Planet".

JASON, the owner of this forum and the RX7STORE is to be commended. I hope he keeps up the good work and keep this going. I have bought products from him and have been pleased. I know I have been screwed lots of times, but not by JASON.

I say support the RX7STORE and keep this forum alive.

At this point I'd like JASON to respond as to what he thinks the future lies in this Forum.

Ken you remind me of that Molly Shannon character on SNL that was FIFTY... FIFTY years old.

Hi, I'm Ken and I like to race, and mod, and race and I'm 58. 58 years young.

BTW, have you gotten a chance to Dyno that thing yet? If so what are your numbers at the high and low boost setting?

Sorry, I have no clue on what you are referring to. I don't watch SNL.

I might be old, but I'm not senile yet, at least I hope not.

Yeah, I'm still pretty new here, but everyone's been great. Thanks to all that have helped me and my FD. I started out as a guy that knew nothing about RX-7's to a guy that knows maybe just enough to get by, for now.

No Sheeyat. Thank the ladies. Even money spent on regular maintenance and emergency repairs that you have to convince them to accept with the car. Speaking of which, where's my Xmas card from Rotary Reliability and Racing?

I won't post a list because it would be soooooooooo long. I have learned a lot from a lot of people on the forum and the big list over the years, and I am happy to pass on what I have learned. Thanks for the recognition to those that posted my name on their lists.

A good answer from an old dog or even a good question from a newbie can lead to increased understanding all around. It is really quite wonderful that there is such a great community of rotary enthusiasts around the world to share information and enthusiasm with.
