Compressor Housing Clocking Model Years Change um..yep

Didn't really know how to title it.

well here. my fd's a 93 and to clock the turbos on it there are i believe 4 or 5 tabs that screw in to hold the comressor housing on tight. i blew the **** out of them. i got a used set and i was like WTF where are these tabs. i then looked closely and there is no where for these tabs to be the compressor housing is held in place by a Huge C-Clip that goes around the inside border of the compressor housing.

so yea. why?

Based on the pictures I've seen, all the 93-95s have c-clips. I *think* only later models of turbos (99+?) have the bolted compressor housings. Don't consider this a truth - just a lead to investigate.

I really wouldn't worry about it that much. The main benefit of the '99s is getting a new turbo manifold which isn't all cracked up. Performance wise, they are pretty much the same which is why the 99's aren't really seen as an 'upgrade' like the BNR turbos.

Can you post some pics? Not sure if all 99 turbos have the tabs or only the 99 RZ ones. If RZ turbos, they'll have a plastic seal around the compressor wheel inlet.

You might be able to fab and weld on some new tabs. Another option may be trying to find some used compressor housings from Japan.

How much boost were you running to break these? Previous owner may have damaged them working on the car and not disclosed.
