Compression Test Advice

Hi guys,

Apologies if this is in the wrong place!

I've got my chance to get my hands on a rare rx7 in fantastic condition, no modifications etc at a good price,

I've been provided with the compression test results yet I don't know if the results are good considering the mileage or not,

The car is a 99 spec and the mileage is around 57000

The compression test results are:
Front: 5.9,6.0,6.1 Rear:5.4,5.9,5.7

Not entirely sure what I'm looking for but they appear to be quite even?

Thanks

This was done with a Mazda compression tester. Yes, the even bounces are an indication of equal compression across all 6 chambers of compression. However, these numbers are very much on the low side. Personally, I would want nothing less than an 8.5 or greater on all rotor faces.

At what rpm was the test done?

Was the engine warm or cold?

Those numbers do seem a bit low.

A little off your topic...but since you're in the U.S., the car will NOT be legal no matter how many titles they can give you. You may want to search here for more info.

If those are correct readings, with a warmed up engine at 250 rpm and the throttle completely open, then you're looking at an engine that needs to be rebuilt sometime soon.

Ideally you want readings above 7 bar, above 8 bar is usually a healthy fresh engine.

Is this car a 1999 RX-7, or does it simply have '99 spec upgrades?
