Question Compare Pettit CB vs Apexi N1 duals?

Anyone know an approximate HP/Torque difference between the pettit single tip and Apexi N1 duals? Configuration of non-ported motor, upgraded turbos, DP, High flow cat.

Thanks,
Steve

the apex unit is nice for a ported motor because you get to keep some backpressure which allows for more low end torque....it also melted the hell out of my bumper and basically ruined it. it doesnt fit well at all.

maybe some modifications to the hangers would allow some space for the bumper but otherwise itll fry it.

the craftsmanship is excellent...really well done.

the pettit stuff Ive seen has been poor in craftsmanship...I dont know if that unit will melt your bumper or not.

Do you really think that there is a big difference between most quality catbacks? I would suspect that the difference is so small it is within the margin of error of most dyno's anyways - making any measurements have little value. In addition, if you have boost control vs. no boost control you will get different results from different degrees of free flowing exhausts. I thought they were all (with a few exceptions) pretty much the same so I went with what I liked asthetically - the Dual N1.

My Pettit is EXCELLENT quality and sounds great. When the turbo kicks in it kinda has a streetbike sound to it.

I havent tested either on the dyno but I'm sure there isnt much difference.

I have the SS Pettit dual tips and it has NOT done anything to my bumper. It has great fitment.

I dont see how these two statement about the Apexi can go together.....
it also melted the hell out of my bumper and basically ruined it. it doesnt fit well at all. the craftsmanship is excellent...really well done.

How can an exhaust that melts your bumper and have bad fitment be considered excellent craftsmanship and really well done????? That doesnt make sense!!!! What do they have nice welds or something?

Excellent craftsmanship should be seen in the design of the exhaust and not just how pretty the welds are. Who cares how the welds look on a exhaust as long as they hold like they are supposed to. I care more about how my bumper looks.

STEPHEN

well said

I should have worded that a little differently.

I was speaking of craftsmanship in terms of what it looks like and feels like....for example..my pettit intake is the ugliest piece of **** ever. People razz me with comments like "what did you make that yourself?" haha...not the piece to use in a spectacular engine bay..thats for sure.

however..I do agree...I would rather have a nice bumper and a slightly uglier exhaust. I would not reccomend the apexi unit to anyone unless they themselves make a spacer or something to keep the exhaust off the bumper...maybe different exhaust hangers...I dunno. should be a simple fix to get another half inch or so away from the bumper itself.

sorry for the miscommunication.

big difference is flow between the racing beats, pettits, etc. and the apexi, HKS, etc.

get N1 single, it doesn;t burn the bumper.

Cool

Well, I don't know where this melting of the bumper comes from, but the only piece that got a bit toasty was the trim of the bumper. The exhaust was a little bit off because I was still using the stock main cat so the exhaust was a bit inward as opposed to outward.
But again nothing happened to my actual bumper.
Maybe you got a batch with really low hinges?

It's one of the nicest exhausts I've ever seen. I'm not really a big fan of those "champaign" bottle exhausts.
The duel look is so much better than the single look.
Plus the sound that comes from the N1 is very menacing.... People roll up their windows when you drive beside them.....

Well, I was just throwing the question out there. I actually have both exhausts(not on at same time, though )
I like my N1 duals, it did melt the bumper a little, but not too much, barely noticable. I got it because I thought it would flow alot better. Plus, I bought this car w/ the Pettit single tip, but I did not know what it was until after I changed it out. So, I might put the Pettit back on just to see how it sounds performs. I was just asking to see if there is a big difference in flow. But, I guess if you want to find out, do it yourself.

The Pettit is a Racing Beat unit. I have one and no burning. Pettit\RB is one of the quietest cat-backs, while the Apexi is one of the loudest. The RB is pretty good quality. The RB looks stock except larger. I happen to like it, but some people don't think it is loud enough.
