Clutch rod/master cylinder problem....

I realized that my clutch push rod was previously modified, which results in my having a clutch pedal that is high when it grabs. I purchased a new stock rod and cut the old rod out. Now the pedal dropsto the floor due to the stock rod being to short. I'm thinking that maybe the master cylinder is also custom since it does'nt seem to extend that far in the car from the firewall. Would someone be able to verify this for me? Thanks in advance.
