Clutch replacement
Clutch replacement
Just a quick question about something someone with a 1st gen told me. He said all three on the gens can swap clutch discs and pressure plates. He said he is running a 3rd gen oem clutch and plate in his 1st gen. Is that true..can I just buy the cheaper 1st gen since it is the same disc and plate??? That would be kinda smarter. But it made me think why would there be such a price change? Is it they all use the same plate but not disc..or other way around??? Any help would be great.

The first gen stock clutch is made for a car with 100 hp. Putting that on a 255 hp FD isn't going to last. The FD clutch is a pull type clutch. I wouldn't think the parts would be compatible.
