Clutch problem? maybe

I haven't started my car in some months but im about to take it out of the garage. I want to get her running great so i have a question i need some input on. Last summer when i was driving sometimes when i was in 3rd or 4th gear if i would step on it or try to speed up sometimes my rpms would go up but i wouldnt be going any faster. Its like if you had the clutch in and stepped on the gas. eventually it would (catch?) and speed me up so im not really sure whats going on. Now on a slightly different note (i dont know if this might be attributed to my problem). My idle bounces ALOT and it keeps getting lower. I can turn the throttle up but it still eventually gets too low. A mechanic suggested i might have an air leak or that i need to clean out the housing where my spark plugs are. So heres what i know im no mechanic but im learning everyday. So if anyone has input i'd really appreciate any.

Thank you.

You 100% need a new clutch. If you're near stock power levels, don't go nuts with it - get a good stock replacement clutch and be done with it. The FD's stock clutch is actually really strong yet easy to drive. I'm making 300-350 to the wheels on a stock clutch with zero problems.

The car wanting to stall is a whole different problem, definitely not related. That could be any number of things - ancient spark plugs, stuck idle control valve, etc.

ok i thought so. Im eventually going to be upgrading the engine so would it hurt to get a stage 2 or 3 clutch now instead of getting a stock one and then upgrading later?

No it wont hurt, except maybe your left calf lol

Really its driveability and function.

Some clutches HAVE to be raced. Not driven like a grandma on the street. Not only is that a waste of cash but you would also wear it out and have a gigantic left calf after a while lol

First find out what is the HP goal for your car and usage, then search for the proper clutch to fill your needs.
