Clutch Pedal Sticks
I did a search for this and I had a few questions that I could not find the answers to.
Let me state my problem first. I had noticed for the past week or so that it seemed like my clutch pedal would go down half way by itself while I was driving, I thought it was my imagination or something. Well two days ago I was in the drive through line at Hardees (it was around 9pm and no one else was in line, thankfully) looking at the menu board and I had my car in neutral. When I went to move up to order I placed my car in fist gear and I am not sure if I actually started taking my foot off the clutch or not, but my car lurched forward and turned off. I thought that I stalled out. I put the car in neutral and started it, but it will not go into gear. When the car is off it will go into gear. I pushed it into a parking spot and went back to my apartment to do some research on here. When I place the car in gear then try to start it, it will not start, it just turns over a few times and stops. When the car is in neutral it will start up fine. When I push the clutch down it stays at the floor and I have to use my toe to bring it up. I tried pushing on it and pulling it up to get some pressure to build up so I could drive it to my apartment which is 1 block away, but as soon as I stop pushing on it the pressure goes away.
I am not sure if the brake fluid and the clutch fluid are the same reservoir or not. I cannot find a separate tank for the clutch fluid. If they are the same then the fluid is fine. Any direction that I can be pointed in would be greatly appreciated. I posted in this section because I do not know how the clutch systems very from each generation.
I feel really stupid about having to ask these questions, but I need help. Thank you.

I found a black hose that was attached to the slave cylinder and the other end was not connected to anything. I think that this maybe my problem. I am going to go to an auto parts store and see if I can find something that will work. I will post a picture of the hose either tomorrow or later on tonight. I hope this is my problem. The hose does not seem to be brittle but the unconnected end looks like it is broken and there is a lot of crap in it. There are soft carbon deposits in the hose, or at least it looks like carbon deposits. I think I also found a small oil leak as there was oil on the slave cylinder. I guess I will have to park the 7 for a few days until I can figure out what the problem is. I will keep this thread updates for those who may face a similar problem in the future.

These guys could be right, but if none of the above works, chances are you broke your clutch fork. You should replace it w/ the upgraded (stronger) OEM part that's available. The previous owner of your FD (seeing that you're new to the forum) should have used that upgraded part when he replaced the clutch last time...

Well I went to mazda to buy the hose that I think is broken, but they told me to go look in a salvage yard, thanks Mazda, great help. One of the mechanics told me that I need to replace my clutch release cylinder (without actually seeing my car) and they would sell me the part for $116.00. So tomorrow my car is getting towed to my parents house so I can figure out what is going on.
I am not sure exactly when the clutch was last replaced but it is around 30k miles ago and I have no idea if the fork was replaced, so I guess that could be the problem. What would cause my clutch fork to break and do you sell the OEM replacement, and how hard is it to replace? Thanks for the help guys.

I have an OEM line ($30 shipped?...how much are they new?). You can see through the removable plates under the trans if the fork is broke but it should be worse then pedal pressure. A good mechanic should test the slave cylinder before selling you a replacement.

GoRacer, don't get ahead of yourself. The stealership didn't mention ANYTHING about testing any parts. They don't test; they just keep replacing until miraculously things work lol.
rx7playa, it's not that the OEM clutch fork is bad; it's that it's prone to breaking once you install a heaver-than-stock clutch. Hence the need for the upgraded part. And yes I can get it for ya no prob, but I'd advise you hold off on that until you're absolutely sure that's the problem. Besides, the only way to replace your clutch fork is to drop the tranny, pull off the clutch, then get to the clutch fork...

That's exactly what happened to me. And it turned out to be my clutch fork. I then bought the OEM one, hope it wouldn't break again. I replaced my clutch too as it was half way. Am i still prone for the clutch fork to break? I installed an OEM Exedy clutch kit?

Mine clutch fork broke today in a drive through at Tim Hortons getting coffee for work. I know it is broken because I see where it has cracked. I have everything out, my question is where do i get one of the new and improved from a Mazda dealer or some one on line?
