Clutch install problems

It won't hold, the snap ring pops out of the release bearing. I spent many many hours trying to get this to work and got drenched in brake fluid
I guess I have to pull the tranny now *cry*

http://www.nopro.com/~jedon/engine/clutch.html

Anyone have any ideas of what could be going wrong?
1. Snap the wire ring into the clutch.
2. Pull the release fork until the ring snaps into the release bearing.
3. put the slave cyl back on
4. bleed the clutch
5. SNAP, ring no longer attached to bearing, slave lever pinched by fork, came apart, fluid everywhere (AGAIN!)
The clutch pedal has no pressure. As soon as I bleed it enough to get some pressure the spring pops off.

Please Help! Thanx!!!

I just pulled my engine with clutch tranny in car, I just finished reinstalling the wedge collar to clutch cover. ARe you saying that once you push the realease collar into the wedge collar(ie clutch cover) it slips out? and are you sure you have to bleed the clutch?

I have reinstalled my engine yet, so I am curious to know.

Thanks

No, it just doesn't stay latched onto the groove on the throwout bearing. It does stay attached to the clutch cover unless I pry it out.
